When is the Yorkshire and the Humber deadline?

Yorkshire and the Humber opens on 15 April 2027, and the deadline is 14 July 2027. GOV.UK calls the region “Yorkshire and Humberside”. It covers Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, Hull, York and the rest of the county, plus North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.

If you own in Grimsby, Cleethorpes or Scunthorpe, your properties are in this region, not the East Midlands, so your deadline is July, not May.

Leeds and Sheffield have big student and city-centre flat markets. Older terraced housing across West and South Yorkshire means EPC ratings and electrical reports are worth checking early.

Which areas are covered?

The Yorkshire and the Humber region covers West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, the East Riding of Yorkshire, Hull, York, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire. Main towns and cities include:

Boundary note: Includes North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. Teesside is in the North East.

Regions follow council areas. To be sure, enter the property postcode in the deadline checker.

What should Yorkshire and the Humber landlords watch for?

Terraced houses and EICRs

The register asks for a copy of the EICR and the date the next inspection is due. Older reports sometimes leave that date blank or give it only as a period (for example “5 years”). Work out the actual date and check it matches the report.

City-centre flats

Leeds and Sheffield city-centre flats usually have a freeholder and a block manager. Find their current names and emails. Management companies change more often than you might expect.

North Yorkshire boundary

North Yorkshire is in this region. Middlesbrough, Redcar and Stockton (Teesside) are in the North East, with a September deadline.

What should I prepare, and when?

  1. By 4 March 2027

List every let property in the region, its legal owner (you, jointly, or a company) and whether a letting agent manages it.

  2. By 18 March 2027

Collect the current gas safety record, EICR and EPC for each property, plus the tenancy agreement and any licence. Book renewals for anything expiring within three months.

  3. From 15 April 2027

Register yourself as a landlord (free), then register each property and pay the fee. Add the tenancy and safety details at the same time if you can.

  4. Within 28 days of each property entry

Make sure the tenancy and safety section is complete, either by you or your agent through their link, or the entry can become inactive.

  5. Aim to finish by 16 June 2027

That leaves four weeks’ buffer before the 14 July 2027 deadline for missing certificates or agent delays.

Every field the register asks for is in the free registration checklist. Once you are registered, remember the 28-day update rule.
